Week of January 23, 2012

Exciting events in our classroom:
  • Happy Chinese New Year!  I'm looking forward to a fun afternoon today with the help of Mrs. Zifko in celebrating our Chinese New Year.  We are getting together with the first graders to do some cooking and crafting related to the Chinese New Year.
  • Notes will be coming home soon about Parent/Teacher Conferences.  Please contact me or the school office if you need to reschedule.  I hope that I will be able to talk with all of you about your child's education!
  • Catholic School's Week is coming up at the end of this month.  The theme for our silent auction basket is "Summer Fun."  I am asking that each student bring one small summer fun item or $2-$5 in to contribute to our basket.  I need the item or money by Tuesday, January 24.
  • We are beginning to run low on snacks again, so please start sending in a snack to share for 3rd quarter with your child.
  • Your child should be reading their "approved" book for 20 minutes each night.  I've been working with them to pick out a book that matches their skill level and interest.  Some students are reading different books at school and at home and others are bringing their book back and forth to read each day.  Please help remind them each night to read their approved book.  This is a great way to work on their reading comprehension!
Focus areas for the week:
