Week of June 4, 2012


Exciting events in our classroom:
  • Our field trip to the Lumberjack Show and the KOA was lots of fun.  Thank you to Mr. Maynes and Mrs. Sunie for driving for us! 
  • We have two field trips left this week.  On Monday we head to Madeline Island for an all day field trip.  On Wednesday afternoon we will head to Kreher Park and Dairy Queen for an end of the year party.
  • Final report cards will go home on the last day of school, Friday, June 8.  Students will receive them after our 9:00 Liturgy.  Students may leave with you following Liturgy or may stay until the buses arrive at 12.
  • We were invited to the opening ceremonies of the Relay for Life to present the money that we raised for the American Cancer Society.  We will also be helping to sing the Star Spangled Banner.  All students are invited to come on stage with us.  If your child would like to come, please have them meet me by the stage at Kreher Park at 5:45.

We will be finishing up all of our final tests and assignments this week and cleaning up the classroom.  Please check around your house to make sure you don't see any of our classroom books there because they should all be returned this week.  Thank you!

Week of May 28, 2012


Exciting events in our classroom:
  • The drama club's play, "Alice in Wonderland," turned out wonderful.  Good job kids and a big thank you to Mrs. Parent for all of her hard work!
  • All permission slips for the remaining field trips were sent home with your child last week.  Please check their backpack for them if you did not see them.  Our first field trip is coming up this Thursday.  We are going to Hayward for the Lumberjack Show and to the KOA campground afterwards.  Please contact me if you have any questions.  Thanks in advance to those who are driving for us!

Exciting events in our classroom:
  • This Friday the drama club will be putting on the play, "Alice in Wonderland."  They will also be performing for our school on Thursday morning.  We are excited to participate and/or watch it!

Exciting events in our classroom:
  • Our bake sale for the Relay for Life was a success!  I'm so proud of the 4th graders for following through with this project.  We were able to make $103 for the Relay for Life!  I have been asked to present the check at the opening ceremony for the Relay for Life at Kreher Park on June 8 at 6:00.  John will be helping me to present the check.  Thanks for all your help with this!
  • Our field trip to the UMD Planetarium was very fun and informative.  Thanks to Mrs. Punjak for setting that up for us.

Exciting events in our classroom:
  • The spring concert turned out wonderful!  Thank you Ms. Betzold and students for all your hard work!
  • The Flat Stanleys have been sent out.  I hope to get them back in a few weeks to learn more about other areas of WI and the country.
  • The 4th graders have decided to have a bake sale this Wednesday, May 9th from 11:30-12:30.  This is our religion service project.  We are trying to raise money for the Relay for Life which is for the American Cancer Society.  I'm asking each student to bring 1 or 2 items to sell at the bake sale.  Thanks for your help!

Exciting events in our classroom:
  • We had a great time at the Visitor's Center.  Dr. Gruhl put on a nice session for us about botany and then we went for a scavenger hunt along the trail outside. 
  • The spring concert is coming up this Friday.  The students and Ms. Betzold have been working very hard on preparing for it.  I hope that you will be able to come and enjoy it too!
  • I have almost all of the Flat Stanleys sent out.  I'm excited to see what we will receive back in the mail!  Thanks for helping out with the addresses.
  • We are planning a class service project to raise money for an organization that we choose.  It looks like we will probably be having a bake sale to do this.  I will send him a note later this week to let you know more about it.

Exciting events in our classroom:
  • We will be going to the Visitor's Center for a program about botany next Thursday.  The programs have been very good in the past, so I'm excited for us to attend this one.

  • We have been working on our fluency through Read to Others and Reader's Theatre.  The students have been doing well and getting better at trying to figure out the expression behind the words. 
  • I recently read the students the book, Flat Stanley, for fun.  We are now making our own Flat Stanleys to send out to friends and relatives and hopefully go on an adventure of their own.  I'm asking that each student bring in an address of someone they can send their Flat Stanley to by this Friday, April 27.

  • It's exciting to see so many of our students be servers at our Wednesday Liturgies.  They are all doing a great job!

Week of 4-2-12

Exciting events in our classroom:
  • Our Liturgy went great last week.  The students did a very nice job! 
  • Tomorrow is the end of 3rd Quarter.  I will be sending home report cards next Friday, April 13.  We will also be doing our reading fluency tests this week.
  • I would like all Native American projects brought home by the end of this week, so we can make room for new things.  Thank you for your help with this!
  •  We will be dyeing Easter eggs with our Kindergarten Buddies on Thursday afternoon.  We are looking forward to a fun time with them again!
