Week of December 19, 2011

Exciting events in our classroom:
  • I sent home a note last Friday about our change in the date for our Christmas Party.  It is now in the afternoon of Thursday, December 22.  Girls should bring a "girl" present and boys should bring a "boy" present to exchange.  If you would like to send a Christmas treat or beverage to share with the class, those are welcome too!
  • The Christmas store is Tuesday, December 20.  Everything at the store is 50 cents.  Students can purchase items for anyone on their list as long as they have the money for it.  This is also a good place for your child to buy their class Christmas present.
  • The Baby Jesus Party turned out very nice.  We appreciate everything that was brought in.

Have a great week!

Week of December 12, 2011

Exciting events in our classroom:
  • The Christmas Program turned out wonderful on Friday night.  Thanks to Ms. Betzold for her hard work and all my students that put their best efforts in to make it so nice!
  • We had a fun pizza party on Friday. With the guidance of Ms. Montano,  we were able to make homemade pizzas that were very yummy.  We enjoyed working with our Kindergarten buddies too!  Thank you Ms. Montano, Mr. Maynes, and Ms. Zifko for all your help!
  • The Baby Jesus Birthday Party is coming up this Thursday afternoon.  At this party we will be celebrating the upcoming birth of Jesus by collecting baby items for The BRICK, making cards for people at the nursing home, and enjoy a birthday cake in honor of Jesus.  So far I haven't received any donations of baby items.  If you are able to send in anything for those in need, please do so.  Some of the items they are in need of are baby food, diapers, wipes, and baby shampoo.

Week of December 6, 2011

Exciting events in our classroom:
  • We had a great field trip today to WITC.  The students got to do 12 hands on labs about the human body.  They even got to hold a sheep's heart, eye, kidney, and brain!
  • Our Christmas Program is coming up on December 9th at 6:30.  The students are busy preparing for that with Ms. Betzold.
  • The students worked together to purchase the "class pizza party" from our Rock Star Class Store.  I was impressed with their efforts!  Mrs. Montano will be coming in on Friday to help us make homemade pizzas for the party.  They also purchased a class movie, so we will be watching Mr. Popper's Penguins.  We are excited because we read that book earlier this year!
  • We will be finishing up our Guided Reading books soon and then will be starting an independent reading unit.  I will be focusing on individualized strategies for reading.  Students will have a book at their level to read at school and at home.  Please support them in their reading!
